Wii Tournament Brings New Game to a Historic Theatre

On Saturday Nintendo brought Super Smash Bros. Brawl to the Orpheum for a 256-fan tournament. blogdowntown Staff Photographer Dave Bullock dropped by to check out the sights. After the jump, more shots of the action.

Competitors were paired off at kiosks along the Orpheum's orchestra pit.

Each kiosk pitted two competitors in head-to-head play, with the winner moving on.

The Orpheum provided a grand backdrop, and again proved its versatility. Owner Steve Needleman continues to book an impressively eclectic schedule of events for his restored venue.

I worked the event and I'd guess there were about 500-700 people throughout the day.
