Sunday Scheduling May Prove Problem for Laker Fans

Sunday might be a tough day to be a Lakers fan. Given the way the team's playing they'll likely not lose -- even to a team as dangerous as the Mavericks -- but for those going to the game the 12:30pm start may prove to be an even tougher foe.

Sunday, after all, is the L.A. Marathon. The race route runs right up Figueroa past Staples before taking a right turn at Olympic. That stretch of Figueroa isn't slated to be reopened to cross-traffic until after 1pm, so fans arriving unprepared may just find themselves a little later than normal for the tipoff.

While it's possible that it's buried somewhere, a perusal finds no mention of the scheduling conflict on the Lakers' website. Those looking to watch the game from home will find it (and possibly an emptier than normal arena) on ABC. Full Marathon closure information can be found on DOT's site.

That's funny. Kobe without an audience.

You know, I'm starting to think that Los Angeles is really good at hindsight, not foresight.

I was at the marathon today. People couldn't couldn't access Staples down Figueroa, but they all seemed to manage fairly well from what I could see. They were making their way to the east side of Flower to the private lots and were probably able to access Staples by exiting on Pico instead of 9th.
