Yahoo Maps Won't Let Arts vs Artists Die

Artists District?

Yahoo Maps recently added neighborhood names to its displayed data. Here in Downtown, though, they made an old mistake, calling the Arts District the Artists District. It’s not exactly a new mistake, well past its first adventure in printing Artist District signs the city still has the name boldly emblazoned on maps around Downtown.

You might be tempted to think that these few letters are no big deal. Turns out they’re quite important to people. My boss while at Cartifact, Graham Marriott, is quick to tell people just how many calls he got when Cartifact followed the city’s lead and put “Artists District” on a map.

OMGoodness! Thanks for this post, Eric. I just typed in the address for my gallery, Niche.LA Video Art (453 S. Spring St. #443, LA, CA 90013) and out popped the words Gallery Row right on the map. Way cool! Who knew a 9 page proposal I wrote in 2003 would turn into words that show up on Yahoo Maps, much less get blue wayfinding signs all around Downtown? I guess I can die happy. Well, not right away... I still have to finish my novel.

Does anyone know how to correct an incorrectly labeled place name on Yahoo Maps? They keep labeling my neighborhood as something else and it drive me crazy.
