Ozomatli @ Grand Performances

As I mentioned in the brief note Sunday, Grand Performances kicked off Sunday with an amazing show that featured Dengue Fever, the Yohimbe Brothers, and Ozomatli. Concert goers were treated to four hours of great sets in the middle of Grand Avenue. Sunday's show on Grand was actually the work of the Fire Marshall. Last year's Ozomatli show on the Watercourt...

Dengue Fever

If you missed tonight's kick-off of this year's Grand Performances, you seriously missed out. The crowd arrived earlier for a 3pm set by Dengue Fever, stayed for a 4:30 set by the Yohimbe Brothers, and was in full force for the 6pm headliners Ozomatli. While normally Grand Performances takes place on the Watercourt at California Plaza, today's gig was held on...

The 12-year old twin girls who did 5-minute long one-handed handstands while twisting and turning were amazing. I don't understand the physics, but it was fun to watch.

Grand Performances: Mad Hot Ballroom

It was a great turnout tonight for the first night of Grand Performances. They were screening Mad Hot Ballroom, and the crowd really seemed to enjoy it. Words of advice I wish I had gotten earlier: come really early and bring a jacket. One thing I have to say, though, is that whoever thought that was a proper screen size for the venue needs to have another...
