LADOT is working with AEG to develop a nighttime DASH route that would connect LA Live and the Music Center, providing service until midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings. DOT would provide the DASH buses, but private companies would be expected to provide for all operating costs. Councilmembers Jan Perry and Wendy Greuel submitted a motion asking DOT to...

By Eric Richardson — June 27, 2008
|Photo Gallery| On Thursday afternoon roughly 700 Clipper fans made their way over to LA Live, but their destination wasn't the Staples Center. The Clippers held their 2008 Draft Party at the next door Nokia Theatre, and for a day the 7,100 seat venue turned into Downtown's biggest living room.

A trio of cherry pickers were kept busy yesterday, as workers installed a glassy facade on the building at the northeast corner of LA Live. That part of the massive development is scheduled to open in December, with grand opening festivities for the Grammy Museum slated for December 3rd. In a rarity for Downtown, yesterday's work didn't even require a sidewalk...

|Photo Gallery| Last night's gathering at the Redwood Bar & Grill was an enjoyable evening, with a Lakers win mixed with blog talk and discussion of all things Downtown. With additional HDTV screens newly installed and house speakers pumping in the game play-by-play, the Redwood is a definite place to put on your list of where to watch a game. Watching a game on TV, it...

Times architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne writes about public squares in this week's Times Magazine, and finishes by declaring LA Live's Nokia Plaza a bust. "So much for South Park's new neighborhood gathering spot," he writes. After mentioning an email from a resident unhappy about the space's rules against dog walking — could this perhaps be Urban...

The five-story ESPN building that is taking shape will house an ESPN Zone restaurant on the first two floors and two television production...

Standing in the plaza at LA Live the other night, Ed and I were both struck by how well the red light show on the side of Met Lofts integrates into the visual performance that LA Live creates. Though a block away, the building fits right into the visual canvas being created, and is framed by the curvature of 11th street as it connects into Figueroa. I'm sure...

Word is that Downtown's fancy Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. Live have been reserving very well since going on the market just a few months ago. Word on the street is that reservations were so brisk that plans for a fancy sales center in the nearby Petroleum building were scaled back in the middle of build out. Why spend extra when you apparently don't need...
Checking In on LA Live

If you haven't made it down to peer at the LA Live construction lately, it's worth a trip to see how work is progressing. The Nokia Theater opens in October, and that quick date is finally starting to look feasible from the exterior. Pictured is a crane that's being used to hoist advertising and lighting towers in the plaza space that'll run between the Staples...

Live for the groundbreaking ceremony of the The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Ritz-Carlton Hotel and JW Marriot Hotel, that the Governor placed a deposit on a Ritz-Carlton condo. "From...
