A Peek Inside
A Peek Inside the Park Fifth Sales Center
By Dave Bullock and Eric Richardson — November 29, 2007 — 17 Comments
The Park Fifth project is hosting a sneak peak tonight for its new sales center in the Gas Company Tower (it runs until 7pm if you're in the neighborhood). Though the office will be open by appointments only until the spring, most of the finishing touches are already in place. Even at 95% complete the sales center is a sight to behold.
Downtowners will be most interested in the model room, which houses a 14-foot tall scale model of the project. The piece was built by a Canadian company and brought down to L.A. by truck in four pieces. Note the pedestrian walkway that cuts from Olive to Hill on the model's back side. That's a nice urban touch, and brings the possibility of outward-facing retail in Metro 417.
A Peek Inside Colburn School
By Eric Richardson — August 15, 2007 — 1 Comment
On Saturday the Colburn School will be having its first move-in day. For the first time in its fifty-seven year history, the school will be welcoming students to on-campus housing as it christens 326,000 square feet of new space on Bunker Hill.
Yesterday I met up with Barbara Vyden, Colburn's Director of Development, to get a look around the new space. In three years of living Downtown it marked the first time I'd set foot in the school, a sad admission given the more than one hundred public performances put on each year. — Continued Inside...
A Peek Inside Elevate Lounge
By Eric Richardson — August 10, 2007 — 28 Comments
When you're searching for nightlife, 811 Wilshire is probably not the first spot you'd look. The mid-rise building at the intersection of Flower and Wilshire has a print shop on the corner and your standard office lobby on Wilshire. Step out of the elevator on the 21st floor, though, and the world feels quite a bit different. That's where Elevate Lounge and Takami Sushi are about to make their mark on Downtown.
Takami opens next weekend, but today it's Elevate that makes its official public debut. Dave and I stopped by yesterday to get some photos and see what the new spot will offer those of us who make Downtown home. — Continued Inside...
A Peek Inside the ImaginAsian Center
By Eric Richardson — August 08, 2007 — 12 Comments
A few weeks ago we posted renders for the ImaginAsian Center, set to open in the former Linda Lea theater on Main street this fall. This week Ed and I got to head over to the site and take some photos of the ongoing construction. We also got a chance to talk to Thomas Pyun from ImaginAsian and ask him about the company's plans for their new Downtown location. — Continued Inside...
A Peek Inside Ralphs
By Ed Fuentes — July 19, 2007 — 19 Comments
Tomorrow will be the ribbon cutting and then after 7 years of waiting and hoping, the long awaited Ralphs is open for business.
The 50,000 square foot store is stocked and ready. Last minute prep work from the kitchen went on this afternoon for the VIP party about to start.
Grab a new basket and take a sneak peek inside Downtown's new grocery store. More can be seen at Ralphs Preview
Added Note: On Friday, LADOT's DASH C line begin route changes to add stops at Ralphs. On Saturday, the weekend DD (Downtown Discovery) line will do the same.
