Touring Downtown WIFI: Cafe Bermuda*
By Ed Fuentes — June 17, 2009 — 5 Comments
The ever changing northeast corner of 5th and Main has had quite the evolution. It held a chicken joint selling legs and thighs with a side of nefarious inventory, then it "upgraded" to Main Street Cafe . . . briefly. Now the business has been purchased, the interior redesigned and opened as Café Bermuda.
The current soft-opening began last Thursday, just in time for Art Walk. It came down to the wire -- the last of the permits were issued the day before. — Continued Inside...

Today's Downtown WIFI spot might be a bit of a surprise, but Chinatown's Plum Tree Inn is a place where you can have a working lunch or knock out a last minute deadline. So how does a 30-year-old family-owned restaurant stay traditional and yet cater to new customers?
Touring Downtown WIFI: Bottega Louie

Bottega Louie has been a Downtown hit since its opening two weeks ago, with the space and crowds leaving passersby twisting their necks to gawk through the large windows. Along with being a restaurant, a market and a bar, Bottega Louie's also a cafe with WIFI. While the crowds make this a spot better suited to work during the off-hours, it's certainly worthy...
Touring Downtown WIFI: Infusion Cafe
By Ed Fuentes — March 23, 2009 — 2 Comments
It's a good sign that Infusion Cafe has regulars even before it had an official ribbon cutting––which it did last week. Located at 808 S. Spring, the coffee shop and eatery makes great use of its space and offers a balanced menu. Most importantly, it has WIFI, making it eligible for a place on our list of spots to grab a connection on the go. — Continued Inside...
Touring Downtown WIFI: Cafe Corsa
By Ed Fuentes — March 05, 2009 — 4 Comments
Care for some Marxist Dark Roast? That could very well be the name of a coffee served at Cafe Corsa, the Figueroa Corridor coffee house that's been getting good reviews. "It's SoDo, south of Downtown," says Richard Weiche, the political academia and food historian turned barista and coffee house owner. Of course, sharing political views is not a requirement for this house of joe, but it may well be some of the conversation you take in while sipping on an brewed Italian Roast.
For Weiche, it's really the coffee that matters. — Continued Inside...

Across from DWP and Walt Disney Concert Hill is a gourmet cafe with an appropriate name: High Point Coffee. It’s only by chance that the name fits the higher Downtown grade at the corner of First and Hope. Chain licensee owner Sal Fakhoury hopes to position himself to build a client base and open another retail spot in the Grand Avenue Project. Since he (like...

Now that WIFI is up and running and the cafe is open until 10pm, we can add this Arts District bakery juggernaut on the blogdowntown WIFI tour. — Continued Inside...
Touring Downtown WIFI: Lost Souls
By Ed Fuentes — December 21, 2008 — 2 Comments
On a recent visit to Lost Souls, scouting details for this story, Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” played right after Earth Wind and Fire’s “Let’s Groove.” It's an old-school coffee shop, and it's been serving up coffee and WIFI for ages.
That’s in Old Bank District years, of course. The Harlem Alley hideaway will have its third anniversary on January 8, 2009 and plans are being made to celebrate the occasion later in the month. — Continued Inside...
Touring Downtown WIFI: 7+Fig
By Eric Richardson — December 12, 2008
An inverted shopping mall may not be the first place you think of when looking for a WIFI spot Downtown, but 7+Fig is actually one of the better places to plug in and get some work done. With a food court, Starbucks, newsstand and plenty of seating, there's a enough variety to find something to suit your needs.
Touring Downtown WIFI: Moxie

|Photo Gallery| Moxie is the 3-year-old coffee house and lunch spot in City West, just outside our usual perimeter of coverage. But since it’s located one long-ish block from where the E and A DASH turn on their way back to Downtown, the café that serves “coffee, fine food, and everything fantastic” is fair game. Besides, it's an alternative lunch spot for workers in the...
