DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Three days before the Michael Jackson documentary "This Is It" premieres at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, MJ mania will again grip the entertainment complex as diehard fans make their way to Nokia Plaza to dance to Jackson's hit song "Thriller." The October 24 event is part of a global effort intended to break a world record for most simultaneous dancers to the song.
The current record of 13,597 was set in Mexico City on August 29.
The October 24 event is planned to include simultaneous dances in 300 locations worldwide.
Don't expect to just show up and fake your moves, either. Participants must register via the , where they can find a tutorial on the dance moves. On the day of the event, participants are asked to arrive three hours early to allow time to get into costume, do make-up and rehearse.
"This Is It" opens on October 27, and will be the grand opening film for L.A. Live's Regal Cinemas.
