Dublin's Soft Opening Set for This Week

“We are Black Irish,” quickly quipped Mark Moss, one of the two African-American brothers who have spent some time in the Irish bar business and undoubtedly have used the punchline countless times.

Mark and his brother Ernest once ran Dublin’s in West Hollywood before moving the concept to Downtown Los Angeles’ Fine Arts Building, in the space that was formerly Ciao Trattoria.

An exact opening date had not been set by press time, but a soft-opening should as early as Thursday. Last-minute construction delayed earlier plans to have the space open earlier this week.

Whenever it does open, Dublin’s will become Downtown’s second Irish-themed bar, only a few blocks away from Casey’s Irish Pub on Grand, north of Wilshire.

65 beers are on tap, including both microbrews and national brands. Highlights of the full food menu include lobster sliders, shrimp with foie gras grits, a salmon BLT, a surf-and-turf lobster burger and a Guinness napoleon on the dessert menu. Traditional Irish fare will also be offered.

Dublin’s will be open from 11am to 2am, transitioning to a modified late-night menu after 10pm. The interior space highlights the architectural details of the historic building and the bar is equipped with HD monitors for watching sports.

Update (Wednesday, 8/25): Updated story to reflect later opening date. Original story had said Dublin's would open Monday or Tuesday.

Can't wait for St. Patrick's Day 2011. Downtown will be the place with Casey's, Dublins, Riordan's tavern, and McCormicks! All bars that heavily promote the St. Patrick's Day tradition! Wow!

Dublin's on Sunset was an awesome place to watch football and basketball games with great fish and chips. My only question is are they gonna have the big barrels of salted peanuts to munch on.

What in the heck does this story have to do with The Must, and why wasn't The Must mentioned in this story?

They will have the salted peanuts. Went in the other day before they opened and talked with the managers. HUGE HUGE barrel of them.

Supposedly this place was closed either for filming and/or health inspection. Anyone know what the deal is? I've been wanting to check it out.

Dublin's is expected to re-open by the weekend if not by the first of next week. As with many new bars and restaurants, it has had battles to fight with the city regarding planning and zoning. From what I have heard, everything is going well and the city and county are working with the new establishment to see that Downtown remains on the path of growth. The owners and managers at Dublin's have been working diligently to see the doors open again as soon as possible.

Hopping in the BDT Wayback Machine to ask...anything happening with this location now?

Granted, I haven't been passed it in about a month, but I assume it's still padlocked? Strange!
