Firefighter Funeral to Impact Friday Commute

Services for Los Angeles Firefighter Glenn L. Allen will take place Downtown at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on Friday morning, impacting commute routes through the Civic Center.

Allen, a 36-year veteran of the L.A. Fire Department, .

At 8:30am, a procession will lead from the City Hall South Lawn to the Cathedral, where a 9:30am funeral service will take place.

Starting at 6am, Temple Street will be closed between Los Angeles Street and Grand Avenue. Main Street will be closed between 2nd and Temple, while Hill Street will be closed between 1st and Ord.

The closures will also bring detours for a number of Metro bus routes. Affected lines include the 2, 4, 10 (Rte. 48), 14 (Rte. 37), 30, 40, 42, 45, 55 (Rte. 355), 60, 70, 71, 76, 78 (Rte. 79), 81, 83, 84 (Rte. 68), 90 (Rte. 91), 92, 94, 96. 439, 445, 485, 487 (Rte. 489), 728, 730, 733, 740, 745, 770, 794 and the 910.

I have had many great friends in law enforcement but do they really need the extra money for doing the parade and services on duty and in uniform- being there at the church can bring them much satisfaction to show themselves that they care but the money they receive later will not.
