DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The Downtown Art Walk today announced Jay Lopez as its new Executive Director. Lopez is a realtor based out of the Historic Core, operates in Glassell Park and is an artist in his own right, with a collection of Polaroid photographs set for exhibition at Copro Gallery in Bergamot Station on January 9.
The board of the non-profit Downtown Art Walk made its choice at a meeting last week. Previous Executive Director Richard Schave resigned from his position on November 10.
“Mr. Lopez is the right person with the right skills to take the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk to the next level,” said Art Walk Board chairman David Hernand in a release. “His vast knowledge of the Los Angeles art scene, experience staging large community events and personal relationship with most downtown gallery owners will make his transition into this high profile position seamless and ensure Art Walk’s continued success and growth.”
The Art Walk organization also added four new members to its Board of Directors: new Executive Director Lopez, Art Walk founder Bert Green, artist Andre Miripolsky and Council District 9 Education Director Pamela Huntoon.
