Where to Watch Saturday's Tour of California Time Trial?

2009 Amgen Tour of California champion Levi Leipheimer was in 3rd place going into today's Stage 6.

A Thursday crash forced Lance Armstrong to withdraw from the , but the rest of the 115 cyclist field will make its way through Downtown on Saturday in what promises to be quite the spectacle.

The time trial will take riders 21 miles, around two loops of a course that starts at L.A. Live, runs south to the Coliseum and then travels north around City Hall before returning.

The pro riders will start hitting the course at 1pm. Because Saturday is an individual time trial, expect to see a steady stream of one rider at a time instead of a massive peloton. Action should wrap up around 4:15pm.

Getting to or through Downtown will require navigating some hefty street closures or using the , , or .

Once in the neighborhood, though, you've got to figure out just where to watch. Who better than Downtowners to share their tips on the best spots along the route?

Got a plan to set up camp next to Pershing Square? Headed to the start/finish line at L.A. Live? Planning to sit outside the new Police Administration Building and watch riders pass City Hall?

Let's hear some viewing advice...

LITTLE TOKYO

The GOLD LINE EXTENSION has a stop at 1st and Alameda. Walk north on 1st 2 blocks to Main St which gives you access to the Temple/Main/1st action.

The RED LINE stop at Broadway and 1st lets you see them ripping down 1st street and hoofing up Temple ... Or you can walk up 1st St 2 blocks to Olive to see activity in both directions.

There are a couple of parking garages on 1st (1st and Central and 1st mid-block just north of Japanese Village Plaza) which you can walk up 1st to catch the route.

Worst downtown street closure planning/organization I've seen in a long time this morning. Snarling detours, malfunctioning lights, misinformed parking enforcement people. Just WOW.

Traffic was horrific it seemed there were some routes into dt but they just went into circles without actually detouring cars through dt. I work dt and it took about 45 minutes to get in this morning and we had absolutely no customers with some claiming they tried 4x to get to us and gave up.
