He's better off being known for his real estate deals. His poetry is nursery-rhyme sophomoric.

guest #1: that's a sophomoric comment. the guy is missing; your opinion of his poetry is unimportant.

If it wasn't for Ed Rosentahl and his poetry, Tom Gilmore wouldn't have gotten an extension to close the first properties in the Old Bank District and Downtown would be a very different place today. Much of what Downtown has become is a result of Ed's hard work and we all owe him a deep debt of gratitude.

Jewish Prayer for Traveler: For Ed

May it be Your will, Lord my G-d, to lead Ed on the way of peace and guide and direct his steps in peace, so that You will bring him happily to his destination, safe and sound. Save him from danger on the way. Give me good grace, kindness and favor in both Your eyes and in the eyes of all whom he may meet. Hear this my prayer, for you are a G-d who hears to the heart's supplication and communion. Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, who hears prayer.

From a few of your friends. We await your return.

If you hike in a state or national park always go with a friend and file a hike plan with the rangers office. Never go on the desert alone, especially w/o a canteen full of water and a bit of nutrition. Your cell phone, someone correct me if I am wrong, should have Global positioning it too. God love this man. A really fine human being.

Ed - I ditto guest number 5's prayer for you. You are a smart man and would have taken provisions with you so we are still hoping for the best and that you will be found very soon. I want to see you and Nicole back at Makom this Friday evening! If prayers and good thoughts can have any impact on your well-being, then there will be some very good news very soon! - Judy

A prayer for Ed to God:

God, my Sovereign, I commend my path to you. Wherever I wander, wherever I am, I am under the umbrella of your protection - Whether I am in my own secure, familiar surroundings, Or in a strange and foreign port, I do not lose heart And I do not fear, for I trust in You.

You who protect the tiny birds in their migration And guide them across an unknown sea From one hemisphere to another, May you also take me - childlike, With my pleading heart and longing eye - Graciously into Your merciful charge. May Your love smooth my way, May You guard me from evil and deceit, May You mercifully guide me to my destination (HOME) And may You stand by me To help me accomplish my purpose, For the fulfillment and manifestation Of my plans and endeavors.

Yet, All-Benevolent One, it is not for myself alone That I lift my hands toward You. In my fervent prayer I also entrust to Your divine care All of my household: my loved ones And those close to me who remain behind. May You guard them and protect them With Your parental grace. May You turn all harm and dire events, All fear and danger, away from them - So we may see one another again In joy and good fortune. Amen.

Ed is one of most amazing, genuine, thoughtful and passionate people I have ever met. It's extremely rare to meet someone with all of his attributes. One of Ed's best qualities is his strong will and determination, which will hopefully help guide him home.

I am praying and hoping for Ed's safe return soon.

Did Ed have a cell phone?! In this day and age, almost everyone has one, and I would assume Ed is no different. If that's correct, when was the last time he used it? Or if he didn't own a cell phone, how did he managed to do business in today's world, particularly if it involved real estate transactions. So he must own a cell, and therefore the question is where is it right now? Or is it possible he didn't take it along with him?

Sorry that I'm comming to this article so late in the game, but I wanted to comment on guest 5 and 11. I used to volunteer with Ventura County S&R. It is recomended that hikers carry cell phones that can opperate with a global positioning device. What that means is a phone that can connect to a satellite instead of cell phone tower. If you phone can Skype, this will work. National parks have few, if any, cell phone towers. You can not rely on a cell phone to help you in a S&R situation. Cell phone batteries also die very quickly, as most of us know.

Guest 5, you also brought up a good point. Please bring some kind of food with you on a hike. Granola or power bars are excellent. So is trail mix, which was developed for hikers.

to the last user, this is hilary rosenthal...the daughter of ed rosenthal. your comment was absolutely inappropriate considering the circumstances. i understand that this is a public site and you carry the freedom of speech but my father was just found ALIVE AFTER 6 DAYS IN THE DESERT WITH NO FOOD OR WATER and it would be nice of you to show some respect for the man. my fathers poetry is far from "nursery rhyme sophomoric". so my friend, please refrain from negative comments on a very positive post. sincerely, hilary rosenthal daughter of the poet broker of downtown los angeles
