A Reminder for Male Readers
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Just had a conversation here at work that reminded me that it might be a good time to mention the Flower District to those of you who might not have been around Downtown in years past. Last year I bought two dozen red roses on Valentines Day for $30. Just remember: get there early and carry cash. The Flower District has hours posted on their website.

Great idea for the flowers, thanks.
Ps. Have you had a chance to see the large banner hanging from the northern rooftop of the Higgins Building in opposition of the proposed Police Headquarters. I am sure as you know, the Environmental Impact Report completely ignored the Higgins Building, using a loophole and labeling it as “commercially zoned,” hence, non-consideration given in the noise, pollution and sound impacts. Even so, the City’s own report concluded that ALTERNATIVE II, the 1st and Alameda location, was an “environmentally superior location.”
No, I haven’t seen the banner. I don’t ascribe to all the tenets of the Police HQ fight, but the EIR was pretty shady in how it dealt with the building. DLANC took a position on this saying as much a meeting or two ago, and that should have gone into the comments for the EIR.
