DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — When Warner Bros. "Sherlock Holmes" opened on 3,600 screens this past weekend, moviegoers got their first real look at the studio's upcoming summer blockbuster, the Christopher Nolan-helmed "Inception." The picture, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, spent three weeks filming Downtown this fall and several scenes showing wet local streets end up in the short trailer.
While the neighborhood sees a lot of filming activity, it isn't often that a train rumbles up Downtown streets. The locomotive pictured in the trailer (a hollowed out shell riding on top of a truck body) was driven up Spring through the 7th street intersection in a multitude of takes on the evening of Sunday, September 20.
Also pictured is a scene from a multi-day shoot at Wilshire and Hope, including a clear view of Famima's logo.
The trailer . The film is scheduled for release on July 16, 2010.
