Pay Stations Coming to Figueroa and Flower Streets

Two pay stations are installed on Flower street and waiting for service.

This Spring, LADOT started rolling out “Park and Pay” stations in test locations around the city. The multi-spot devices are now coming Downtown, with a pair of the kiosks installed on Flower street between 8th and 9th and waiting to go into service. The devices allow payment by cash and credit, and feature online integration.

The new stations are far more tamper-resistant than the traditional meters, which too often are put out of service by enterprising individuals fishing for coins.

Since one pay station serves multiple parking spots, the units also serve to reduce sidewalk clutter by removing a large number of meter poles.

The new pay stations should help drivers cope with L.A.’s new meter rates, which doubled recently. In some parts of Downtown meters now cost $4 per hour.

Update (Tuesday, 8am): I just walked by another pay station on Figueroa, again between 8th and 9th.

Brand spanking new one on Hope St in front of Market LOfts… Oh wonderful city, what else will you come up with to further deplete LA’s residents’ wallets?
