ShootDowntown Meetup: This Saturday

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — If you like taking pictures of Downtown, you should plan to come out this Saturday for our first ShootDowntown Meetup. We’ll be getting together to eat breakfast, talk photos and then wander around Downtown to snap and learn alike. It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you like to shoot, come on out and meet some other people who like to view Downtown through the lens.

blogdowntown Staff Photographer will be on hand, no doubt extolling the . I make even break out the thoroughly impractical and see what happens.

Again, the details: this Saturday, December 15th, we’ll be meeting for breakfast at 9am at (418 W. 6th street, on the south end of Pershing Square). We’ll hang there and enjoy some food for an hour before heading off at 10am sharp to go take some pictures. We’ll be encouraging everyone to submit their favorite shots from the day to the and then putting together a gallery of favorites to post up here.

I would like to attend the meet. I was thinking it was for folks that take more professional photos than I am able to with my little canon powershot. =) but I do love taking photos of downtown.. I have a party to go to later that day so if possible, I’ll be there!

Yeah, definitely don’t be intimidated thinking you don’t take good enough photos. Photography is all about just exploring how things look through a lens, not about having super-fancy stuff (though certainly the super-fancy stuff is quite nice). Until just this past year I was shooting almost all of my Downtown shots on a 1.3 megapixel cameraphone.

Eric, I am going to try to make this. Note sure what camera I will bring, probably an used Nikonos IV I still haven’t tested with film. Ben

I also want to encourage the shooters with smaller cameras to join us. For a year, many of my shots were on an EasyShare while toting a 35mm. For this, I may bring out the film cameras.

Great job organizing this event. I had a great time participating and look forward to seeing the pictures up on flickr, the really good ones in the blogdowntown photo pool, and a gallery of the best ones.
